Rémy L.M. Mostard studied medicine at the Catholic University of Leuven, where he obtained his MD magna cum laude in 2003. In 2004, he started his training in Pulmonary Medicine in the Atrium Medical Centre, Heerlen, the Netherlands. After his registration as a pulmonologist in March 2010, he started working as a pulmonologist with special interest in interstitial lung diseases (ild) in the same hospital. His research activities at Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (FHML), University Maastricht, are focused on sarcoidosis. At the WASOGBAL 2011 Conference in Maastricht, the Netherlands, he was rewarded with the award for Excellence in Sarcoidosis Research in the Netherlands of the Sarcoidosis Patient Society (Sarcoïdose Belangenverenigng Nederland). In October 2012 he finished his thesis entitled: ‘Assessment of inflammatory activity in sarcoidosis’.
